WATERCOLOUR FOR AMBIENT ALBUM RELEASE
Mark was commissioned by South Korean based, ambient music producer, Fescal, to create a unique watercolour to accompany his album release 'Two Winter Poems'. The music is inspired by the poems 'Winter Morning' and 'Winter Evening' by Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin.
The snow below the bluish skies,
Like a majestic carpet lies,
And in the light of day it shimmers.
The woods are dusky. Through the frost
The greenish fir-trees are exposed;
Having grown up in the Peak District, in the north of England, Mark needed little help with imagining a winter landscape – Russian or otherwise! The initial, limited edition boxed CD, released on Christmas Eve, was a sell out. The digital version is still available on iTunes. Both Fescal and his Russian label wanted a painting which reflected the emotional warmth of a Russian winter. Mark chose watercolour and ink for the painting Russian Winter. It was included as a limited edition print with the boxed CD release, and as the album cover for publicity and the online digital album.
